US Water Index is a product of Tidal Systems LLC. On this page, “we” and “us” mean Tidal Systems LLC, which operates uswaterindex.com and is responsible for the information described below. Tidal Systems is the company to contact about anything on this page.

There is no account, no sign up and no cookie involved in reading any county page or using the map. You do not have to tell us anything to see what is in your water.

Enough to know which counties get read and whether a sponsor is getting anything for their money, and nothing that identifies you.

• A random session identifier held in your browser sessionStorage. It is created when you arrive, it is not a cookie, and it is destroyed when you close the tab. It is never linked to a name.
• Which county pages were opened, which ZIP was searched, and whether a sponsor link was clicked.
• No advertising networks, no third party analytics, no tracking across other websites, and no profile of you.

Automated traffic is filtered out server side before any of this is recorded, so a sponsor is never billed against a search engine crawler.

Some counties have no sponsor. On those, the site offers a short form. Filling it in is the only way personal information reaches us, and it is entirely your choice.

• What you type: your name and phone number.
• What it is attached to: the ZIP code you searched, the county, and the reading you were looking at when you asked.
• What is recorded with it: your browser user agent, and a salted one way hash of your IP address used to stop the form being flooded. The address itself is never stored.

Where it goes. The purpose of that form is to put you in touch with a water treatment company. Your name, phone number and the county you asked about are passed to the company that sponsors your county, or held until one covers it. If you would rather that did not happen, do not use the form.

A partner account stores your email address, company name, phone number, website and the counties you hold. Passwords are stored only as a scrypt hash and cannot be read back by anyone, including us.

Payment card details are handled entirely by Stripe and never reach this site or its database. We hold a Stripe customer reference so your billing portal opens, and nothing else about your card.

Three, all of them strictly necessary, and all of them only ever set after somebody signs in: uswi_admin, uswi_sponsor and uswi_partner. Each is a signed session token. They exist so a signed in page knows who is asking.

There is no consent banner because there is nothing to consent to. No cookie is used for analytics, advertising or tracking, and a visitor who never signs in is never given one.

• Vercel hosts the site and processes requests to it.
• A managed Postgres database stores the records described above.
• Stripe processes payments and holds card details, under their own privacy policy.
• n8n and Telegram deliver a notification to the operator when a form is submitted, so that it is seen quickly.
• Twilio sends scheduling reminders to the operator only. It is never used to contact a visitor.

Your information is not sold to data brokers, not used to build advertising audiences, and not shared with anyone beyond what is described on this page.

• Rate limiting records are deleted automatically after 24 hours.
• Browsing measurements are kept while they are useful for reporting to sponsors.
• A lead is kept until it is acted on or until you ask for it to be removed.

Email aidenbird@uswaterindex.com and say what you would like. You can ask for a copy of what is held about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. A phone number is enough to find a lead. Requests are answered without charge.

Depending on where you live you may have further rights under your own state or national law. Those rights apply whether or not they are listed here, and the address above is how to use them.

The site is not directed at children under 13 and no information is knowingly collected from them. If you believe a child has submitted the form, write to the address above and it will be deleted.
